Ease of Maintenance

A powerful HMI interface that provides system feedback. With our easy-to-use tools you will no longer be reliant on OEM services and can reduce strain on your maintenance budgets.

Superior Performance

Mechanical/Analog Speed Governors are responsive, but requires more maintenance. The RVX Power Hydro Speed Governor combines high performance with the advantages of digital technology. Open programming allows users to fully configure new software functions with industry standardized function blocks.

Increased Reliability and Turbine Efficiency

Increasing system availability through reliable equipment is imperative to our customer’s operational revenue as is ensuring each turbine/generator is operating at its highest efficiency.

PRODUCT COMMONALITY

The RVX Power hardware, software and interface tools are identical for any type (Francis, Kaplan/Bulb or Pelton) and size turbine. In addition, the controller hardware and software tools are identical to what is used for Reivax RTX Power excitation system product, simplifying maintenance and testing for plant personnel.

REDUCED HYDRAULIC MAINTENANCE

Reivax extensive hydraulic knowledge and expertise in advanced control algorithms ensures a high performance control loop while at the same time reducing actuator wear. Duplex oil filters are used, which allows for safe filter replacement while the unit is running.

DATALOGGER / SOE AND SCADA INTERFACE

Coordination with other plant events is easily done by time synchronizing the digital hydro speed governor RVX Power system with an IRIG-B signal and by utilizing the high frequency (1ms) sampling capabilities of the Reivax even recorder. An expanded Datalogger functionality with eight (8) triggers and pre/post recording allows customers to view the system behavior when any of the user configurable triggers are activated. Communication with unit SCADA/PLC is easily made with Ethernet , (Modbus TCP/IP or DNP3.0 etc.) or with RS232/485 serial connection.

PERFORMANCE

NERC testing is significantly facilitated with the RVX Power intuitive HMI interface featuring a graphical representation of the transfer function, built-in step response feature, chart recorder and ability to change tuning parameters for the closed loop control and limiters all from one tool. At 0.01% frequency accuracy (6mHz), the RVX Power Hydro Speed Governor frequency deadband senses the smallest change in frequency. Total deadtime including typical hydraulic delay is well within the NERC requirement and distinguish itself among other Digital Hydro Speed Governors on the market.

DETECTION OF ISOLATED GRID MODE

Detection and tuning in isolated operation is easily performed using the built-in simulated grid isolation feature. The user can easily change the control deadband and droop for isolated mode operation as well as the detection parameters for initiating isolated mode operation as well as returning to grid-connected mode.

OPEN PROGRAMMING

The open programming allows for adding additional advanced control algorithms, such as adaptive control for head and load, Hill chart, Runner wear Optimization etc. Users have full control to make software changes or adding new analog or digital interface points.

RELIABILITY THROUGH DESIGN

Reivax RVX Power Hydro Speed Governor utilizes few control components to reduce the hardware count for increased reliability. In addition, the system reliability can be further increased by adding a redundant controller with it’s own I/O unit.

KAPLAN AND BULB TURBINES

Reivax built-in Optimizer algorithm goes beyond turbine index testing.  Runner blade and wicket gate combinations are tested during normal operation at constant load for different head levels. The optimal combination curve (CAM curve) is then loaded into the Speed Governor to guarantee that the unit delivers the highest possible efficiency.  Produce more Power or maintain the same Power output using less water!

RELIABLE PARTNERS

Reivax only works with the most reliable sub suppliers. Hydraulic components are sourced from Bosch/Rexroth, Parker Hannifin and Atos.  Positioning feedback sensors are MLDT/LVDT from Balluf.
