All digital excitation systems faces a “mid-life” crises after 15-20 years of operation. While the system can continue to operate for a longer time, access to replacement parts and technical support becomes more and more difficult. There may also be some cyber security concerns because of older digital technology and operating systems that are not supporting security patches for new threats etc.<\/p>\n
