REIVAX TRACKER AUTOMATION

The REIVAX Tracker Automation solution is composed of autonomous devices with wireless (Zigbee) communication, capable of providing actuation, operational safety, and advanced functions for solar trackers.

This system is responsible for automatically positioning the moving structure in order to keep the panels perpendicular to the solar irradiation axis throughout the day, thus maximizing photovoltaic energy generation.

The solution is composed of three devices:

  • STC – Solar Tracker Controller

  • STS – Solar Tracker Sensors

  • STG – Solar Tracker Gateway

STC – Solar Tracker Controller

The Solar Tracker Controller (STC) is the electronic device responsible for controlling the positioning of the tracker. It is mounted fixedly to the rotation axis, so that the motor it commands directly drives the gearbox connected to the axis of the row.

Considering standard market panels, approximately 16 STCs are required per 1 MWp of panels. Tracker position control is based on the installation location of the STC (site reference) and the time (synchronized via the communication network).

The STC can be powered by a dedicated photovoltaic panel, a panel from the same string, or an external AC supply. Models powered by photovoltaic panels include a LiFePO4 battery with different capacity options.

The STC also features a wireless communication interface to connect with other devices and can be configured and/or accessed locally through a mobile app using Bluetooth.

STS – Solar Tracker Sensors

The Solar Tracker Sensors (STS) is an electronic device that receives field measurements, such as from an anemometer, pyranometer, or other 4–20 mA or RS485 sensors. An important function of this device is to measure wind speed and direction, sharing the data through the wireless communication network.

The STS can be powered by a dedicated photovoltaic panel or an external AC supply. It features a wireless communication interface to connect with other devices and can be configured and/or accessed locally through a mobile app using Bluetooth.

STG – Solar Tracker Gateway

The Solar Tracker Gateway (STG) controls and monitors multiple STCs and STSs through the Zigbee wireless communication network.

It also provides an Ethernet interface for integration with the supervisory system via the Modbus-TCP protocol and a web interface for monitoring and configuration.

The STG has a scalable design, allowing the use of multiple STGs together to provide communication redundancy or adequate coverage depending on the size of the installation.
